Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why is the County doing this?
Because the County has rules about how property can be developed, South Carolina Law requires the County to prepare and adopt a Comprehensive Plan, or said another way, a "Land Use Plan". The Plan has to be revised every ten (10) years. The last County Plan was prepared in 1999. 2. How does the Proposed Plan affect me?
The Plan DOES NOT change who owns property or how it is used today. It does help the County, the School District and all its citizens and towns with decisions about where growth should go and how new roads, schools, parks, and other public investments should be made. It also helps when new development is proposed how about how and where it should occur.
3. What Happens Next?
Once we have completed these meetings, we will examine what the public has told us and see if any changes need to be made. If not, the remaining part of the plan will be prepared. If changes are required, those changes will be considered by the County Planning Commission. The Plan will then be scheduled for hearings by the Commission and County Council. Notices will be published in the newspaper at that time. 4. How do I tell you what I think about this or ask questions?
